Singapore Dog-Friendly Cafe & Restaurant Review: Kings Cart Coffee Factory

We visited Kings Cart Coffee Factory at 328 Joo Chiat Road on the eve of Christmas 2020. This outlet is an offshoot of the original Kings Cart Coffee, initially established in 2017 as a coffee cart service provider to events. Their new cafe debuted in August 2020, with a variety of food and beverages for the foodies and coffee lovers out there.

Upon arriving, we were greeted by two large potted plants at the front of the cafe, with two stone chinese guardian lions peeking out from behind. A sculpture that resembles a terracotta warrior greets you at the door, as if it was intentionally designed to stop you in your tracks to ensure that you have done your Safe Entry check-in. Well, at least we know something is guarding the delicious coffee when nobody is around.

The Space

This cafe allows for up to 30 diners indoors, and 8 diners outdoors. For guests with pets or dogs, you will be required to sit outdoors, where there are two tables accommodating up to 4 persons each. The staff are very welcoming of diners with dogs, as the area is laden with pet supply & grooming stores like The Barkery and Bubbly Petz.

The alfresco dining area is well shaded and the floors are cleaned regularly, which gives us a cosy environment to have brunch with our friends whilst our pup has a treat or two next to us.

The Menu

Kings Cart offers their standard black coffee, white coffee in 6oz or 8oz, and also milk alternatives like soy and oat milk. The coffee bean selection is consistent with most cafes; offering a darker, nutty option, or a fruity & slightly more acidic option. In addition, they have their specialty coffees, local teas, non-coffee drinks, local craft beers, and cocktails if you are craving an afternoon G&T.

For food, Kings Cart’s soufflé pancakes and brunch menu items are a must-try. We enjoyed the King’s Breakfast ($22), a balanced combination of smoked bacon & sausage, paired with fluffy & creamy scrambled eggs, a slice of sourdough, topped off with half a grilled tomato and mashed purple sweet potato.

Two King’s Breakfasts and Bacon Egg Benedict

Dessert was an ambitious attempt to finish two soufflé pancakes; the Pandan Kaya ($21.50) and the Nutella ($21.50), which was a Christmas special.

To complete our meal, we ordered a range of their specialty drinks to try. The Cold Brew ($6), the Coconut Latte ($8), the Salted Caramel Latte ($8), and the Coconut Cold Brew ($9). We recommend going for their regular Cold Brew or Coconut Cold Brew if you are looking for a chilled coffee, otherwise, their standard hot coffees are just as good.

The Experience

Although Kings Cart Coffee Factory has just opened several months ago at Joo Chiat Road, there always seems to be a buzz going on at the cafe at any time of the day. The staff were extremely friendly with us and our dogs, and even gave them a plastic container with water, labelled “GOOD BOI’s :)”.

We ordered at the counter and the staff chatted with us about how they had dogs too. Food and drinks were served promptly, and we were very satisfied with their approach on every aspect of our dining experience there. You could also catch a whiff of the coffee roasting as they have an in-house coffee roaster nestled at the back of the cafe.
